Are you Installing YoungStar rubber matting?
Here are some tips and tricks to help you get that perfect result.
Welcome to our installation guide for YoungStar mats. Follow these steps to achieve the perfect setup for your new mats.
Tools Required
First, gather your tools. You’ll need:
- Tape measure or ruler
- Stringline for alignment
- AS70 anchoring screws
- Hammer drill
- Impact driver
- 6mm SDS masonry drill
- T40 star head driver bit
Install at the Correct Temperature
Temperature affects rubber, causing it to expand or contract. To minimize this, install your mats at temperatures between 10°C and 30°C. Allow the mats to acclimatize near the installation site before laying them out.
Laying Out the Mats
Start by positioning your mats from a straight edge. Keep a 5mm gap to the side to allow for expansion. Lay out the entire area before making any cuts.
Cutting
Use a white marker pen to mark your cuts. Then, with a heavy-duty box cutter and a steel straight-edge rule, make your cuts. Keep your blade sharp and reduce friction by opening the cut as you go. For intricate cuts, especially around contours, you can use a jigsaw if it’s safe to do so.
Anchoring
After laying and cutting the mats, drill through them into the concrete to a depth of 100mm. Use the AS70 screws with an impact driver, ensuring the finishing washer is slightly countersunk for a neat finish. There are 12 anchor recesses per mat; using all 12 is recommended for high-pressure areas, with a minimum of 6 per mat.
Conclusion
And that’s it! You’ve successfully installed your YoungStar mats.
