Ascot Farms Horse Walker Surfacing

Cambridge, Waikato

Numat worked with Ascot Farms in Cambridge to provide a system horse walker mat system that was thicker, stronger and more durable than their previous matting. For this project, Kura was the obvious choice.

Owner, Bruce Harvey, likes the cushioning effect of the Kura mat. “The thicker rubber is so much better for the horses’ legs. Concrete is too hard and dangerous if they fall. Sand is not good because the horses wear a channel in it.”

And he’s already found Kura to be cost-effective compared with the last two products. “It cost about the same, so if it lasts longer, then I’ve got value.”

The previous products used weren’t nearly as good as Kura, which is a much thicker and higher quality rubber. “I expect it to last a lot longer,” says Bruce.
